5 Poets Breaking into Song which Giovanna Riccio co-sponsors is an ongoing multimedia performance series founded, curated, and hosted by renowned Canadian poet and former Parliamentary Poet Laureate George Elliott Clarke. It pairs original poetry readings with newly commissioned musical compositions, bringing together diverse regional poets and accomplished composers. The project which was launched in 2021, is an ongoing series which has produced more than 20 distinct events. Shows frequently feature international representation, multi-lingual translations and partnerships with public libraries.
